Reflections on the Boy Scout Uniform

The following comes from a website called “The Boy Scout Trail”:

The Scouting program in America has always included uniforms for its members and volunteers to identify members and show they are part of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouts and leaders should wear their uniforms to all patrol meetings, troop meetings, and scout outings.

The tan and green Boy Scout uniform is a well-known symbol of American scouting.  All scouts in the program wear the same uniform with the major differences being the badges each scout has earned and the troop specific neckerchief.

A Quick, But Much Deserved, Thank You!

As many of you are aware, we are in the middle of our Fall Cub Scout Roundup season.  Well, not so much the “middle” as “barely two weeks in”.  At any rate, the start is going great.  Over 70 new Scouts have joined our ranks in the last two weeks, just in our district.  These are kids who now will get to experience Scouting and all it can offer to them.

Their participation has been made possible by a number of volunteers who helped not only with the signups, but work to plan and carry out the program week to week.  At Pikeville, Millard, and Johns Creek, unit leaders helped sign up more than 60 new Scouts!

Court of Honor

Tonight we had our first Court of Honor for Troop 877, it was GREAT!!!! The Troop earned a lot a awards tonight, we had a total of 60 awards given out. I’m so proud of these Scouts.

Popcorn Kickoff A Success!

Just a quick post to say “thanks” to all those who took time out of their Saturday to attend the LP District Popcorn Kickoff.  There were 15 people in attendance, a great number for a Saturday meeting in August!

Hopefully, those in attendance left with a better understanding of how to have a successful fundraising campaign, and maybe with a pretty good door prize, too.  If you were in attendance and would like to share what was helpful to you, or what you would like to see added/changed for next year’s kickoff, please leave a comment here or email me at jtackett@bsamail.org.  Your input is how we’ll improve.

Welcome to Pack 182 in McCreary County!

Thank you for visiting Pack 182.

Hi everybody! Cubmaster here, Our meetings will now be held on every FRIDAY night at the cafeteria of Whitley City Elementary at 7:00 P.M

Next regular  meeting, August 27th@ 7:00P.M. in the Whitley City Elementary Cafeteria.

I know I told everybody that we would change our meetings to Fridays and the Principal has now agreed to allow us to meet on that night  for now as long as we keep the place clean and the children confined to the lunchroom area, this means no unsupervised children in the halls. Lets all be on our best behavior so we can continue using such a nice facility!

WHEN THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAYS THERE WILL BE NO MEETING!

I would like to thank everyone who participated in our paper drive! Pack 182 is awesome, We collected 2475 pounds of newspaper and magazines, WAY TO GO!
