PACK 279 PINEWOOD DERBY
The Pinewood Derby will take place at the Beaumont Presbyterian Church located at 1070 Lane Allen Road. Here are some important dates to note:
GET YOUR KITS AND GET STARTED
Your Den Leader has your Kit if you haven’t received it yet. Get it without any delay. Of course it’s not too late to start your Kit. Look at the Workshop this Saturday, for instance, as a great way to get a basic car finished or a complex design started.

I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’m very proud of all of our leaders here in the Lonesome Pine Dist for their participation and help with all of our activities this year.
Troop 877 News. Last weekend end we had our Annual Lock-in at the First Presbyterian Church, with an evening of Bowling and “Hide and Seek” in the dark, the Troop had lots of fun.

The B.S.A.’s Venturing program offers many opportunities to learn new skills and earn awards. Our Crew President / Boatswain, Don Combs has accepted the Venturing challenge and to date has received all of the above, except Quartermaster, and he is working very hard on that. A trip down to Sea Base over Christmas break will help improve needed marlinspike skills. Good luck!

It is getting that time of year again. Our anual Operation Clean Sweep will be held on March 21st 2009. The event will be at Dewey Lake in the old golf corse same as last year. As you all know Dewey Lake Staff allways will do anything possable to support scouting. As usual they are asking All Scouts to help them in the anual clean up of the lake area and because of cut backs in a lot of programs the volenteer numbers have been droping for years. Last year the Scouting program was the largest group in attendance we hand around 230 volenteers atteding and cleaning last year. We are hoping to get around 300 volanteers this year and with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and all the dedicated parents and familey i see no reason why we cant meet or even beat that goal. I am asking all Cub and Scout Masters to please talk with parents and get to me the names and shirt sizes of all people who will be pertisipating in thes event by the Feb. round table at the latest please this is important because i like to make sure all scout volenteers get a clean sweep t shirt. As allways there will be lunch and lots of door prizes. For more information you can call me at 606-358-0061 or email me at musichi@hotmail.com once again thanks for all you do to keep Scouting going
