The Lonesome Pine Scouts will be participating in Operation Clean Sweep on March 19th-21st at Jenny Wiley Park. Any interested Boy Scouts will be camping out on Friday night and staying through Sunday afternoon. All interested Cub Scouts will be participating on Saturday only.
This is a wonderful service project opportunity and a great way to represent Scouting to the community! Jenny Wiley campground has been very good to us and this is a great way for us to show our appreciation!

Cub Scout leader training will be provided this Saturday, February 20th from 10-2 at the Paintsville Community Center in the back room. Cost is free and if you have not been trained you need to attend! If you need more directions you may call the center at 789-2612. Please let me know if you plan on attending! Every Scout deserves a trained leader!

3rd times a charm! After much rescheduling we will be having our Cub Scout Polar Bear Swim on February 27th from 12-4 at the Johnson County High School pool. The cost is $5 per youth/sibling and it covers the insurance and patch for each boy. Lunch will be provided after the event so please let me know how many plan on attending from your unit by no later than Monday February 22nd, 2010. The event will comprise of free swim for the boys and the opporunity to work on swimming advancements. Leader training WILL NOT be provided as originally planned. Please make plans on attending!

SUNDAY 2-21: UK Hoops UK vs SC @ Memorial Coliseum 3pm $1 per scout and $2 per guest. If you would like more info see Mikey.
TUESDAY 2-23: Blue & Gold Banquet. This will be at the school starting at 6:30. There will be a Pot Luck meal the theme will be Country Cooking everyone please RSVP and let us know what you can bring for this dinner. I also need a couple parents that is willing to organize games and activities.

Pack 828 along with Troop 488 are planning on camping at Mammoth Cave, June 11-13, 2010.
If interested on attending this camping trip, please contact Cub Master Mike Smith (606.309.4401). All campers will be responsible for their own camping gear and food. The cost for each cub scout is $4.00.

Last night the Lonesome Pine District celebrated with our annual District Banquet. While the anticipated weather kept some from coming we had a wonderful time. A big thanks goes out to our Advancement & Recognition Chair, Glen Felty, for putting the event together.
We handed out several awards last night, but due to some of other award winners missing, I’ll hold off on posting those names until we get the opportunity to honor them as well.
Thanks once again to everyone that attended, and to all of you that make the Boy Scouts the wonderful organization that it is!

Scout Sunday has been moved to February 28th at 10:45 AM at Victory Baptist Church
Pine Wood Derby is Saturday, March 13th at Victory Baptist. Weigh in’s begin at 3:00 PM
Blue Gold Banquet will follow the Pine Wood Derby at 5:30 PM
