Scouts clean up at Operation Clean Sweep

On the first day of Spring 2010 the Lonesome Pine District Boy Scouts sprung into action, participating in Operation Clean Sweep at Dewey Lake.  The year’s accumulation of garbage provided ample amount of work for our Scouts, but they rose to the occasion- working tirelessly from 10 a.m. to around 5:30 p.m., with a lunch break in-betweeen.  The numbers haven’t been released yet as to how much trash was collected, but you can certainly tell a difference on the shoreline!

Troop 828 Late Winter Camp

Polar Bear Swim a Big Splash!

On February 27th, 2010 the Lonesome Pine Cub Scouts gathered at Johnson County High School for some great swimming fun!  Our annual Polar Bear Swim was a great hit with over 60 youth hitting the pool.  All Scouts participating earned their swimming beltloop and many others earned different swimming pins!

A big thanks to Daniel Helfen for running the event for us; Bob Hutchinson for providing the pool, lifeguards, and McDonalds for all the boys; & Glen Felty for helping out as a BSA certified lifeguard!
